Another Mekong dolphin calf of less than a week-old was spotted yesterday, swimming alongside eight adult dolphins at the Kampi pool in Kampi Dolphin Canyon in Sambok commune, Chit Borey district, Kratie.

The baby dolphin was seen by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) research team in Kratie province, together with Kratie provincial Fisheries Administration officials that carry out inspections in the Mekong River Dolphin Conservation Area.

According to the experts, the new baby dolphin was born on February 27 or 28, weight around 9 kilograms, with one meter long. The birth of a new baby dolphin coincide with the receipt of a new sub-decree No.47 on the establishment of the Mekong River Dolphin Management Area.
